Points & Miles Booking FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
How far ahead can I book flights on points?
Typically, flights can be booked 11 months in advance.
Can i combine points and cash for flight redemptions?
Generally speaking, no. There are certain programs (JetBlue, for example) that allow combinations of cash and points, but we've found that this option often ends up costing more than simply paying the cash fare.
Are award flights truly free?
Besides our Successful Search fee of $100 per passenger, you will still be required to pay any taxes, fees or fuel surcharges to the airline. This can range from $5 to several hundred dollars per ticket; however, even with these costs, you will still likely save hundreds if not thousands of dollars on your flight!
Why do I have to pay a fee before you start searching?
Searching for award availability is time-intensive, and requires manually searching multiple airline websites multiple times a day in order to find award redemptions that meet your search criteria. We collect this fee to cover the cost of time spent searching for flights on your behalf.
What if I want to travel to more than one destination on my trip?
Please let us know how many flight segments you are looking to book with points, and we will build a custom price quote for you.
How many points do I need to redeem an award flight?
The amount of points you will need depends on several factors, including origin and destination airports, travel dates, and airfare class desired (economy, premium economy, business, etc.) Domestic flights in economy class can often run as low 7,500 points one way, compared to international business or first class flights that can cost upwards of 100,000 points one way. The amount of points needed also depends greatly on the carrier's loyalty program, as points values vary greatly from airline to airline.
Will you keep searching until you find a points redemption that meets my criteria?
If we don't find a points redemption flight immediately, we will continue searching for up to 30 days for flights that meet your criteria.
